Questions For Faye - #2

It's day two of Questions For Faye and that of course means question number two.

Here we go:

Question 2
How many breath mints do you make Dewey (Lewis Griffith's) eat before the Taking The Dog scene where he has to burp in your face?

Faye's Answer
None, and believe it or not it's the funniest part of my evening.

That's a quirky fetish Faye :L. I don't even think the audience know whether to laugh or cringe when Dewey lets rip.

I remember on the final Saturday at Wimbledon Lewis really went to town with his belch and Faye had to take a good 10 seconds to compose herself before carrying on : -)

Questions For Faye - #1

Before I went to London I promised you a surprise or two and I can now reveal the first of those is a questionnaire Faye was kind enough to complete and send back to me.

MASSIVE thanks to Faye for taking the time to respond.

I'll be posting one question and answer a day over the next few weeks.

Question 1
Has your shoe ever flown off during 'So Much Better' when you karate kick while singing "I have not begun to fight"?

Faye's Answer
No never, but other Elle's have told me that it has happened to them.

I've been to a lot of Legally Blonde shows on tour and in the West End but never seen it happen myself. However the type of shoes Elle wears in that scene made me think it was a definite possability.

Legally Blonde - Serious

As you can tell I'm back from my week in London. I saw some great shows, Hedda Gabler, Wicked and Jersey Boys. The only thing missing was Faye Brookes.

I did visit Wimbledon during the week but there is no sign of our girl or the Legally Blonde gang at the theatre now.

Having said that, the LB poster is still up in the Centre Court shopping mall : )

Anyway, before I went away I promised you the second Legally Blonde UK Tour track I found on YouTube, Serious.

Although Warner does most of the singing I still love this song because it really showcases Faye's incredible acting. All the Mmm's and Yeah's are just hilarious.

Just a reminder that I'm going away tomorrow for a week so wont be able to update the blog again until Monday 29th October.

A Follow From Faye Would Make My Day

I was listenning to some LB tracks last night and when it I got to 'Find My Way' the following lyrics sort of popped into my head. I can't share them with Faye via Twitter - too many characters - so I thought I'd post them here. Not going to win any prizes I know but surely worth an A for effort : -)

Our Malibu Sweetheart,
She showed us how to dance
How blonde can still mean smart;
I have to find a way.

I know that she's concerned;
Her trust I have to earn.
But even if I crash & burn 10 times a day

I have to find a way.
To get a follow from Faye.

It would mean a lot to get a follow from Faye. Just to be able to send a direct message on Twitter would be useful if there was ever anything I needed to ask. Particularly if her career takes her over the pond to America.

I also run a blog for the amazing Rachel Tucker who plays Elphaba in Wicked. She follows me on Twitter and I also have her personal email which of course I haven't shared with anyone. In fact I've probably only contacted her about 10 times in 5 years but it's great just to have the option.

RACHEL TUCKER FAN BLOG

Regardless, this fan blog is here to stay and I will always support this incredible lady. She is mind-blowingly talented and a truly lovely person but if you're reading this Faye, any chance of that follow. It really would make my day.

Don't forget you can always unfollow should you ever wish to do so : -)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also just wanted to mention I'm going away for a week from tomorrow and probably wont be able to update the blog again until Monday 29th October.

When I get back it will be time to post the second Legally Blonde UK Tour track I found on YouTube, Serious.

Legally Blonde - Omigod You Guys

We all know what Elle says before the start of every Legally Blonde show:

"If I catch anyone texting, tweeting or putting this on YouTube, I'm coming after you, and I'm so not kidding right now. Enjoy the show!"

However, none of the videos or audios I feature on the blog were recorded or originally uploaded by me personally. I can also think of a lot worse things than being chased by Elle Woods or Faye Brookes so I'm going to feature a few.

We're all a little sad that the show is over so it's nice to be able to reminisce by listenning to some tracks from the excellent cast of the Legally Blonde UK Tour; particularly Faye Brookes of course :)

Hopefully they wont mind, the tour finished nearly 2 weeks ago after all.

I know I'm not alone in not wanting to say goodbye to LB just yet. Plus we have to fill the time between now and Sleeping Beauty with something :)

Now not every song from the show has been uploaded to YouTube and the quality of those I did find varies a bit - you may have to turn your volume up quite loud with some of them - but over the next few weeks I'll be posting the ones I came across in the order they appear in the show.

First off, Omigod You Guys

Everyone Loves Faye Brookes

This blog may have only been running for 4 months but even in that short space of time I've posted countless Legally Blonde reviews praising Faye for her spellbinding performances as Elle Woods.

As the tour is now over I thought it would be nice to collate those comments into one blog post as a tribute to our favourite Malibu princess.

“The real star of the show, however, is Faye Brookes as Elle Woods. Her powerhouse vocals are perfectly suited for the role, coupled with her fine comedic acting and immense stage presence; one of the finest young actresses in the industry today. It was an absolute delight and pleasure to see such a talented actress in such a demanding role She played it perfectly."

"As she takes us through act one with songs ‘What You Want, ‘Positive’ and act closer ‘So Much Better’, her full range of vocals are displayed with ease and ability. Her solo 'Legally Blonde' towards the end of act two really allows her to shine as the undeniable star of the show.”

“A generally impressive cast reveals some stand out performances. Faye Brookes is faultless as the eponymous blonde, Elle Woods, physically perfect and genuinely engaging throughout.”

“Played with heart and humour by Faye Brookes, Elle defies her own and others’ doubts to excel in the court room and choose the right man, proving that appearances really aren’t everything. Brookes is a name to look out for and with Bill Kenwright behind her, she’ll go far.”

“Faye Brooks is perfectly cast as the blonde heroine Elle Woods with her uncanny resemblance to the same character in the original film starring Reece Witherspoon. Unlike her celluloid counterpart, Faye is required to sing the majority of numbers in the show while carrying out some intricate and energetic moves. Throw in some acting and dog handling and it results in a performance that is very much the leading lady.”

“All the cast were great but particular mention has to go to Faye Brookes. You can’t take your eyes off her and it isn’t just the shocking pink outfits.”

“As is Brooks who makes the role of Elle her own and receives huge appreciation, richly deserved, from the audience as a result.”

“As for Faye, well the sky’s the limit. Any show would be lucky to have her and any audience privileged to see her perform.”

“Faye Brooks, as lead role Elle Woods, was fantastic. She embodied the character brought to life on the big screen by Reece Witherspoon and the audience was behind her every step of the way."

“This is one of her first major roles and I think the West End will be seeing a lot more of Faye Brookes in the future.”

“The cast is led by the Sensational Faye Brookes who is breathtaking and worth the entrance fee alone but also includes Ray Quinn, Les Dennis and Niki Evans.”

“Faye Brookes sparkles as the headstrong Elle and is a joy to watch in the role.”

“Brookes judges her performance to perfection, making Elle both likeable and interesting.”

“Legally Blonde is a great show but the huge success of the tour is no doubt mainly thanks to the mind-blowing leading lady performance by Faye Brookes.”

“The touring version of Legally Blonde was every bit as good as its west end counterpart and Faye Brookes the best Elle Woods EVER !!”

“Her comedic timing is second to none, her voice at times breathtaking, and her facial expressions an absolute treat. There is no doubt that this young actress is a star, and it is almost guaranteed that she has a very fruitful West End, if not Broadway, career ahead of her.”

Someone with Faye’s talent wont be short of offers when her run as Sleeping Beauty ends next January so if by chance this is being read by a producer who is considering her for a role, SIGN HER UP !! You’ll be missing out if you don’t and your loss will be another shows gain.

Faye Brookes Legally Blonde Finale !!!!

Omigod You Guys, this is probably the hardest blog post I've ever had to write. I have to admit to feeling more than a little sad at the thought of no more Legally Blonde and the realisation that even if it does return some day, Faye Brookes wont be playing Elle Woods. Which of course means it will never be as good.

However, the finale weekend was full of memorable highlights and I obviously need to do a post to mark the occasion so here we go.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As soon as it became official that the LB tour would end at Wimbledon I booked my tickets for the final performance and started to plan my weekend. However, as the big day drew closer I couldn't resist purchasing tickets to both the Friday evening show and the Saturday matinee too.

There was more to arrange than tickets and accommodation, I had to think of something to give Faye to thank her for being the perfect Elle. After much thought and a little help from Fayes boyfriend Giovanni I decided on champagne; pink of course :)

I did some research and ordered what seemed to be a popular Rosé but when it arrived the gift bag seemed far to big, so I decided to fill it with Elle related presents; a pink feathered pen, shampoo and conditioner, red bull and of course, Elle magazine. The new Vogue wasn't out till next week ;)

So I was all set.

The Friday show was just as amazing as every other performance I'd seen on the tour; maybe even more so. The fact is, every time I saw this incredible show I came out loving it a little bit more. Faye as always shone from beginning to end, proving yet again that she is one of the finest young actresses in the industry today.

Next up was the Saturday matinee which was full of hilarious pranks. Will Young replaced Simon Cowell as Elles neighbour, Faye was left shaking her junk all by herself during 'Positive', Dewey emerged from his trailer with his trousers down and treated Elle to a particularly disgusting belch and Emmett was the only one to wear a kilt or bear a purse during 'There! Right There!'.

All this was done to perfection meaning any newcomers probably wouldn't realise anything out of the ordinary was going on.

That leaves the grand finale which will go down as the most emotional night I've ever had at a theatre. As soon as the curtain went up I could see tears in the eyes of Sophie Issacs who plays Margot and as the show progressed it was obvious that all the cast were struggling to control their feelings. However, they used their emotions to deliver the greatest Legally Blonde performance of all time.

Needless to say I shed a few tears myself.

There isn't much else left to say about the show that hasn't already been said but each and every one of this incredible cast should be proud of their performance because they went out with a bang; simply sensational.

Of course special mention has to go to Faye Brookes who lifts Legally Blonde from being a great show to a modern day masterpiece.

Elle Woods is the biggest female role in musical theatre and nobody could have played it better than Faye. Her breathtaking vocals, phenomenal acting, incredible stage presence and superb dancing saw her receive countless standing ovations from delighted audiences across the UK and rave reviews galore. All richly deserved. She was simply perfect and I feel extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to see her perform.

I got to chat with Faye after every show and she is a truly beautiful person both inside and out. To quote Carrie Underwood, 'She shines like a diamond and glitters like gold' on and off stage. I even got to meet her lovely parents who are understandably immensely proud of their superstar daughter.

My IQ probably dips below 40 in her presence so I can't remember everything we discussed but she loved her gift and as I mentioned in my post on Sunday she returned the favour by giving me her cup which has travelled with her on tour.

Although sad LB has come to an end she is looking forward to a short break before performing Sleeping Beauty in pantomime which starts at the end of November in Canterbury. After that, who knows? She has the talent to do almost anything and Broadway is a very real possibility.

The Legally Blonde tour may be over but Fayes career is just beginning and there really is no limit to what this very special lady can achieve.

Legally Blonde Tour Video Review, Part 1

While I finish writing my review of my weekend in Wimbledon I thought I'd post this excellent video that Faye told me to look out for during one of our stage door chats.

It's a look back at the amazing time spent on the 2011/2012 UK Tour of Legally Blonde and it had me reaching for the tissues once again.

Come back tomorrow for part 2 !!

Who Won The Faye Brookes Cup?

ME !!

I've just got back from a fantastic but also very emotional 3 days in Wimbledon. A Full review will follow over the next week or so but I thought I'd do a quick post tonight to let you know about the trophy I picked up while I was there.

You can keep the FA Cup and Ryder Cup because I'm now the proud holder of the Faye Brookes Cup !!

I'll tell you how that came about, the shows and our stage door chats shortly.

For now I'd just like to thank Faye not only for the cup and for treating us to 16 months of pure musical theatre magic as the best Elle Woods ever but also for being so lovely and patient with a completely starstruck fan at the stage door. You really are a very special lady.

Wimbledon Legally Blonde Review

I'd love to be able to turn back time and rewind to June 2011 when Faye and the Legally Blonde gang were getting ready to kick off the tour in Liverpool. Unfortunately the countdown to the final performance continues and there are now just 6 shows left before the curtain comes down for the final time.

Hopefully if she's had a cold its done as its told and fucked off because it would be cruel if she wasn't able to finish what she started 16 months ago. She retweeted the following earlier this week:

@chrisjenko Cold. FUCK OFF.

Here is the latest LB review written by Hannah Williamson of the Croydon Guardian:

Legally Blonde Review
New Theatre, Wimbledon

OhMiGod you guys, Legally Blonde The Musical is like, totally a must see!

Yes, the plot is predictable for those of you who haven’t already seen the film, but if you are after a fun, girly night out with lots of laughs, then this musical is for you.

The show based on the smash hit movie with Reese Witherspoon has made its way to the New Wimbledon Theatre and is there until October 6.

The story about Elle Woods, a pretty blonde left heartbroken when the boyfriend she thought was going to propose, breaks up with her to find someone more serious, as he is off to Harvard Law school is enhanced by a series of catchy songs.

The production has little dialogue, with the songs, with hilarious lyrics are performed with buckets of energy with slick dance routines that include both skipping with ropes and a Riverdance spoof- though not at the same time.

Listen out for my personal favourites Omigod You guys and There! Right There! which features a comical chorus of “Is he Gay or European??”

I found it impossible not to fall in love with the cast, Faye Brookes was excellent in the lead role and I was pleasantly surprised by former Pop Idol Gareth Gates’ performance as Elle’s boyfriend Warner Huntington III.

It was former Brookside actress Jennifer Ellison that impressed me the most. I didn’t really know what to expect from her portrayal of Paulette Buonufonté- Elle’s hairdresser who finds love with a delivery man in tight shorts- but her singing voice was strong and clear.

But the real scene stealers are dogs Bruiser and Rufus, who were unfazed by the ahhhhs from the audience.

If you like pink, a good love story and a feel good musical, can I suggest you book your tickets.
