Questions For Faye - #15

Faye has been a very busy bee over the past couple of weeks auditioning for new roles in London.

Providing the casting directors have eyes and ears it should be a formality in my opinion but we all know they regularly make mistakes and don't choose the right girl for the part.

I'm keeping everything crossed for some good news soon.

In other news Faye has had to shelve her Bend & Snap routine in favour of more conventional methods of staying in shape:

@Faye_Brookes Gym gym gym gym gym... 👟👟!

Sounds like hard work but thankfully she is also finding time to relax:

@Faye_Brookes The perfect fix for my late night.... Prosecco bubbles are the best bubbles! pic.twitter.com/qxQwD9R67s

@Faye_Brookes Sunday lunch please...welsh style! x

Any idea what a Welsh style sunday lunch is? No, me neither. Sounds good though.

Right, it must be time for our next Question For Faye:

Question #15
Would you ever go on any celebrity TV shows like Strictly Come Dancing, I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!, Dancing on Ice or Big Brother etc?

Faye's Answer
Those shows are great to keep you familiar with the general public - ie. The Fans - and if I had the opportunity to go on a television programme like that I definitely would.

I think of all those shows I'd most like to see Faye on Strictly Come Dancing and based on her exploits as Elle Woods and Princess Aurora I think she would be more than capable of walking away with the Glitter Ball.

Faye Brookes, The Perfect Princess

By chance I recently came across an article talking about the Aladdin Pantomime at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford back in December 2008. It included a picture of one of the shows main stars, Princess Jasmine.

Now unbeknown to me this beautiful young lady was our very own Faye Brookes.

As we all know Faye is immensely gifted, an incredible actress with the voice of an angel. Her talent alone should see her as a front runner for any West End role. However, there is no denying that she is also blessed with the looks of a Princess and was therefore the perfect choice for Jasmine and Aurora.

So I guess the question is, who's next? Snow White? Cinderella? Rapunzel? Ariel?

Here is the article I refered to above which includes a short interview with Faye:

Crowning Glory For Aladdin Princess

IF ever a girl was destined to play a princess, it must surely be Faye Brookes.

With her pretty face, sweetness and bubbly personality, the final year Guildford School of Acting student could have stepped straight from the pages of a fairytale.

It must have simplified the job of choosing Brookes from the 50-plus hopefuls who auditioned for the role of Princess Jasmine in Aladdin at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford.

It is her first professional role and she is brimming with excitement. The 21-year-old Mancunian is especially awed to be working with Nigel Havers, who she described as “lovely” and “inspirational”, but she said she was not about to become all starry.

“It won’t change me at all,” she insisted.

Though she seems full of confidence, Brookes admitted to some pre-audition nerves.

“I was the second-to-last to go in and there were some really good people, so I was sure that the audition panel must have chosen already,” she said. “But they were lovely and I felt at ease singing for them.

“Two days later the director called me back. Apparently they had actually wanted me from the moment they saw me.”

Brookes said she had been known as “musical theatre girl” since she started drama school, on account of her effervescence.

Her aim is to make Princess Jasmine as loveable as possible. “She should be happy and smiley,” she said.

“I’ll be myself really, as I’m a naturally positive person. I get it from my mum.”

Remember, this article is 4 years old so unfortuntely our chance to see Faye sparkle as Jasmine has past us by but I'm sure it wont be the last time she's given the role of a Princess.

Legally Blonde - So Much Better

As I love musicals I recently purchased Kimberley Walsh's new CD 'Centre Stage' which includes classics such as 'On My Own', Memory', 'Another Suitcase in Another Hall' and one of my all time favourites 'Defying Gravity'.

Now I actually really like Kimberley, she seems like a very nice girl and is the most real member of Girls Aloud. I also very much like the album because it's full of wonderful show tunes but I'd describe it as nice, pleasant and enjoyable instead of incredible, mind blowing or exceptional.

As I said, I do like the album and I would recommend it but this album could and maybe should have been a knockout but Kimberley hasn't quite got the vocal range to make that happen.

Bottom line, it would have been SO MUCH BETTER if recorded by the wonderful Faye Brookes.

Flowers For Faye On Valentines Day

Well it's the first Valentines Day since I set up this site last July and I couldn't let it pass without sending a few flowers to the lady who inspires me to run this blog, the sensational Faye Brookes.

This is post 101, not bad considering we're just 7 month's old.

Hopefully the flowers will be delivered today. That is, unless the snow in the Manchester area over the past couple of days effects deliveries? I wouldn't have thought so though because I don't think there's been that much and it should be thawing now anyway.

As you know Faye's latest role was as Princess Aurora in Sleeping Beauty and ALL Princesses should have flowers for Valentines.

After much thought I decided to go with pink, it was after all our girls signature colour during her amazing run as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde.

I Hope you like the flowers and have a wonderful Valentines Day Faye.

Love and Best Wishes, Andy xx

I also treated myself to my own Valentines present. I pick up my new - well 5 month's old - Honda CRZ on Friday :)

Questions For Faye - #14

Earlier this week Faye tweeted:

@Faye_Brookes Happy x

I was at a football match watching Bristol Rovers play Cheltenham at the time and just minutes after that tweet I too was happy because we equalized with the last kick of the game :-)

Here is the next Question For Faye:

Question #14
I see from Twitter that you like cooking, would you ever consider going on a show like Celebrity Masterchef?

Faye's Answer
I do really love to cook and bake. However, I don't think I could cope with all the stress of the live cooking show.

See, she is the perfect lady, all that talent AND she can cook :-)

I'm not great in the kitchen myself but I do enjoy watching Masterchef. I agree with Faye though, I'm not sure how the competitors cope with the stress. Having to cook exotic dishes and present them perfectly in a very limited time while being watched and judged by professionals must be terrifying; and that's before you consider it will be shown on TV to an audience of millions. SCARY

Questions For Faye - #13

As promised it's the return of our 'Questions For Faye' series of posts.

The first 12 were Legally Blonde related but the remaining questions are a bit more general, allowing you to get to know this wonderful lady a little better.

Question #13
Would you ever consider going on a Andrew Lloyd Webber type TV talent show if they were looking for someone for your dream role?

Faye's Answer
Yes, definitely. What a great opportunity that could be.

If you have talent - and Faye definitely has talent - then these shows can be an excellent spring board.

The best person doesn't always win but it really doesn't matter because if you're good enough - and Faye is definitely good enough - opportunities will follow.

There are countless examples but the two that spring to mind are Rachel Tucker and Samantha Barks whose careers have taken off since finishing 4th and 3rd in the 'I'd Do Anything' show where they were looking for a new Nancy. Eventually won by Jodie Prenger.

I would love to see Faye on one of these shows but I dread to think what my phone bill would be come the end of it.

Legally Blonde Recordings

Firstly I want to say a MASSIVE thank you to Faye for the lovely email message and the two stunning new pictures featured on the right of the blog.

She is not just incredibly talented but also a breathtakingly beautiful person both inside and out.

Right, moving on. Prior to the Sleeping Beauty panto I was in the process of posting Legally Blonde audio recordings I'd found on You Tube. It looks like I'd got as far as 'Chip on my Shoulder'.

Now not every song from the show has been uploaded to You Tube and the quality of those I did find varies a bit - you may have to turn your volume up quite loud with some of them - but over the next few weeks I'll be posting the remaining recordings I came across in the order they appear in the show.

It's nearly 4 month's since the finale in Wimbledon so it's nice to be able to reminisce by listenning to some tracks from the excellent cast of the Legally Blonde UK Tour; particularly the incredible Faye Brookes of course :)

Such a pity there don't appear to be any videos of the sensational Sleeping Beauty panto because if you didn't get to see Faye sparkle as Princess Beauty then you missed out on something very special.

Anyway, before we move on to the next track - 'So Much Better' -  here's a reminder of those already posted:
